KALLARACKAL

Family history

Kallarackal family’s rich history spans over two centuries, dating back to the early 1800s. It all began with Thomman, who hailed from Meenichil, Pala, Kerala. He belonged to Bratiyani family and married Eli from Ottaplackal branch of Erakonni family. They laid the foundation for our family’s legacy by establishing their home in the property known as Kallarackal ‘purayidam’, and since then, each generation has been known as Kallarackal and has added unique chapters to our story. Our ancestors have weathered migrations, and societal changes, passing down traditions and values that continue to shape our family today. From their humble beginnings, our family has diversified, with members pursuing various professions, from farming to entrepreneurship, and contributing to their communities in significant ways. Through adversity and triumphs, we’ve held steadfast to our cultural heritage, preserving customs and practices that connect us to our roots. As we look back on the past two centuries, we find inspiration in our family’s resilience, determination, and the enduring bonds that tie us together across generations. Our family history is a testament to the enduring strength of familial ties, the importance of preserving traditions, and the legacy we continue to build for future generations.

Some members of the family have additional family names such as “Karimthuruthel”, “Varikamakkal”, “Edappazhathil” and “Kavi Kallarakkal”. The family of daughters who are married off from the Kallarackal family is also an integral part of the Kallarackal Family Kudumbam.
